Inspired by vintage asylum and hospital environments and aesthetics, the Restraints collection aims to target mental illnesses, gender roles, toxic masculinity and the perception society has towards male and female individuals

All these topics mix together to give birth to a complex yet simple idea; beauty can grow from very bad mental places too, in every way and shape possible!

The mental and physical restrictions that were applied in the past in asylums and mental institutions now become a symbol of how, in today’s society, men and women are supposed to dress and live their life

Men are supposed to wear shirts, be masculine and strong; women are supposed to be pretty, feminine and wear beautiful girly dresses. Men who wear a more feminine attire are considered lesser of a man and are often subject of vocal and physical violence

The Restraints collection and Oddità as a brand aim to fight toxic masculinity and inspire people to always be themselves

Some classical men shirts’ designs become dresses, other ones become a symbol of oppression and bare the weight of those restraining laces that were used in the past on strait jackets

Visually simple and conceptually complex, the juxtaposition allows the viewer to interpret and wear the garments in a free way

All these visuals and concepts are mixed in a way that results in new designs and aesthetics with the purpose of expressing individuality, self awareness and confidence!
