  • Crafted from an original 50s silk, this dress becomes an intricate tableau of secrets woven into fabric, each stitch a faint echo of untold stories. Hand-embroidered with red plastic cabochòns, shaped like hospital crosses, it channels the ghostly reverberations of forgotten asylums and sterile, clinical spaces. The symbols, jarring in their innocence, are like cryptic whispers—marking the intersection of healing and harm, of care and confinement. The fabric, once radiant with a bygone elegance, now carries the weight of time’s erosion, its sheen faded into a muted decadence. This garment breathes a chilling air of mystery, as if each fold and pleat conceals a fragment of a story buried deep within the walls of institutions long abandoned, where twisted memories linger in the shadows. The cross, both a symbol of salvation and torment, transforms the dress into a piece that reflects the duality of human experience—sacred and profane, tender and violent. It invites the wearer into a dance with history, where the boundaries between beauty and decay blur, and where the past, though silent, never truly lets go.

The fabric, selected for its worn and weathered texture, speaks of time's relentless passage, each faded thread a testament to its storied past. The original selvage of the material, left untouched as the hem, serves as a raw tribute to the garment's history—its imperfections a deliberate mark of authenticity. The pattern, at first soft and delicate with repeated bows, is violently interrupted by a series of red crosses, their starkness disrupting the harmony and embodying a visceral tension. This deliberate rupture becomes a visual metaphor for the conflict between grace and violence, beauty and suffering—an unsettling duality that runs through the fabric like a dark undercurrent. A small square, cut away long ago, now remains in the hem, an absent presence that speaks to time's erosion. Its absence is not a void, but a deliberate detail—an archive of the moment when the piece was altered, a symbol of the countless hands that have, over the years, molded its form. This missing piece becomes a relic in itself, suspended in the garment’s final state, embodying both the loss of what once was and the enduring memory of its past. The dress, in its fragility, becomes both a document and a vessel for time, bearing the marks of existence, transformation and the quiet decay of memory.
