  • The haunting aesthetic of an orthopedic neck corset traces its way down the entire back of this shirt, transforming a familiar, classic white men's shirt into a provocative statement. The fusion of clinical precision with the sharp contours of orthopedic design creates a striking visual metaphor for the suffocating and often damaging effects of toxic masculinity. With its rigid, almost surgical structure, this piece speaks to the way societal expectations and gender norms can constrain, restrict, and ultimately harm the wearer. The juxtaposition of traditional menswear with clinical medical aesthetics reflects the silent burdens imposed by these toxic ideals—pressures that, like an orthopedic device, are meant to "correct" but instead serve to distort and confine. This shirt becomes more than just a garment; it is a powerful critique of the ways in which culture enforces narrow definitions of strength and identity and the cost of those ideals on both the individual and society as a whole.

Crafted from dead-stock, ultra-soft high-quality cotton, this piece speaks to an unwavering commitment to detail. Even the back string, a vintage treasure, was carefully sourced from a stack of materials once owned by an elderly seamstress who lived in the small town I call home. It is a nod to the past, a quiet tribute to the craftsmanship and history woven into every thread, and a reminder of the hands that once meticulously curated such precious remnants of a bygone era.
